We listened to your feedback! As of February 2020, Berocca Orange has an improved formula. Berocca Orange still contains 11 vitamins and minerals*, no caffeine, no sugar and no artificial colours but is now also aspartame free.
Berocca Orange is the second of our range to not include the sweetener aspartame alongside Berocca Blackcurrant and we are working to make the whole range aspartame free in the future.
We are also excited to have launched NEW packaging across our range. From February 2020, Berocca Orange had the new look packaging, with the whole Berocca range changed by the end of 2020.
Just one Berocca tablet is packed full of 11 vitamins and minerals. Berocca contains all 8 B vitamins – the Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin C, Magnesium & Zinc.

In need of a boost?
Berocca Boost contains caffeine which helps improve your alertness and concentration – giving you an additional kick, when needed. Do not exceed 400mg of caffeine per day. Not recommended during pregnancy or for those nursing/breast feeding.
There is no need for concern, some of the vitamins in Berocca are at levels above the NRV (Nutrient Reference Values), but they are all below the Upper Safe Levels which were established in 2003 by an expert group who examined information available for dietary vitamins and minerals.
The NRV of vitamins is an EU-recommended amount to ensure people are not lacking important nutrition. Some supplements contain levels of vitamins and minerals above the NRV where this nutrient intake is considered safe.
The B vitamins and vitamin C in Berocca are water-soluble vitamins. This is important for two reasons:
You need them in your diet every day because many are not stored in the body for any length of time
Any B vitamins or vitamin C provided by your diet and Berocca that exceed your body’s needs are passed out of your system in the urine
We are not aware of any safety issues specific to any of the Berocca formulations. The suggested daily intake for Berocca products is one tablet or sachet per day and it is recommended not to exceed this.
Berocca Effervescent and Film Coated Tablets are not suitable for people with kidney problems, or for children under the age of 12 years old.
Berocca Boost should not be taken in combination with ephedrine or other stimulants. Berocca Boost is not suitable for children under the age of 18 years old.
None of the Berocca products are suitable to those who are pregnant, breast-feeding.
Berocca products contain vitamin B2 (riboflavin). Like all B vitamins, B2 is water-soluble so your body takes what it needs and discards the rest. The presence of vitamin B2 in your urine can result in a more intense colour.
Berocca is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women. This is due to the complex nutritional needs of pregnant and breastfeeding women and Berocca has not been specifically formulated for use as a pre/post-natal supplement. We recommend that you talk to your GP, midwife or pharmacist about food supplements.
Some Berocca effervescent tablets do contain aspartame at a low level which is well below the acceptable daily intake set by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
If you would prefer to enjoy aspartame-free Berocca, then we suggest you try
Berocca Orange Effervescent Tablets or Berocca Blackcurrant Effervescent Tablets as they do not contain aspartame (they contain Sucralose and Acesulfame K).
Berocca Film Coated Tablets do not contain any artificial sweeteners.
All ingredients in our products, including sweeteners, are tightly regulated and their safety had been rigorously assessed.
Aspartame is a low-calorie alternative to sugar and can be found in many foodstuffs, including sugar-free fizzy drinks, yoghurts and chewing gum. Aspartame has been assessed as being safe as an ingredient in foods and food supplements by both the UK Government Food Standard Agency (FSA) and EFSA. The safety of aspartame was re-reviewed by EFSA in December 2013 and it was concluded that aspartame and its breakdown products are safe for the general population (including infants, children and pregnant women).
For more information on the FSA assessment, click here to visit the website.
Berocca effervescent tablets and film-coated tablets do not contain any caffeine.
Berocca Boost contains caffeine and guarana, a natural source of caffeine. Caffeine helps improve alertness and concentration.
Total caffeine in one Berocca Boost effervescent tablet: 75 mg
Caffeine 35 mg
Guarana extract 222.22 mg, equivalent to 40 mg natural caffeine
There is no NRV for caffeine intake for the general population; however, guidelines suggest that women who are pregnant or breastfeeding limit daily caffeine intake to 200 mg. It is not recommended for anyone to exceed a daily caffeine intake of 400mg. Berocca Boost is not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Berocca does not contribute to significantly increased sodium intake levels when used according to on pack instructions. Berocca recommends taking only one a day.
The sodium in the effervescent tablets comes mainly in the form of sodium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate which are used to create the well-known “Berocca fizz”. These ingredients are used in almost all effervescent tablets. Sodium bicarbonate is also commonly used as a raising ingredient in baking and is also known as “baking soda” or “bread soda”.
Salt is classified as sodium chloride. Berocca effervescent tablets each contain 273–287 mg of sodium. This is equivalent to around 0.7g (682.5-717.5 mg) of salt.
For those who are looking to reduce their sodium intake further, Berocca is also available in non-effervescent formats.
Berocca Film Coated tablets are classed as “low in sodium” and contain less than 2 mg (0.002 g) of salt per tablet
The recommended intake of salt per day for an adult is no more than 6g (6000mg). 75% of the salt that we eat comes from everyday processed foods, such as bread, breakfast cereal and ready meals.
If you’re a vegan and looking to fizz with vitamins and minerals, then Berocca and Berocca Boost effervescent tablets are for you. Please don’t take the Berocca film-coated tablets as they contain lactose which is derived from cow milk, and are not suitable for vegans.
